I just love photographing extended families! Photographing your entire family together is a dream for any mom, but can seem so overwhelming and can be so much work! Anytime you can get this many people together for a photograph is a reason to celebrate – and I love being a part of it! I love helping make it happen!
I’ve known Megan and her little family for a while now (see her mommy and me session with her and her daughter Libby HERE) but this was the first time I met her entire family and just fell in love them all! I loved how easy going they were. They were totally okay with having fun and the feeling the entire session was very relaxed.
Nola and Dar were going to be leaving on a mission and their family hadn’t been all together for four years! So this was a big deal to get everyone there . They were smiling the entire time. I loved how happy they looked to have their family all together!
We did their session in a small field by a family cabin near Silver Fork Lodge. This was a morning session and it was so beautiful in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Utah Summer’s were made for being in the canyons! Big Cottonwood was all in bloom and everything was green and cool and crisp. It couldn’t have been a more perfect morning for a session. It was the perfect backdrop for this family to gather and have their family photo taken.
My favorite part of their session was watching the parents goof off with each other – it was easy to see where all those grandchildren got their fun personalities. And then seeing Nola and Dar just so happy to be there with their family all together. It’s one of those reminders that I’m doing more than just taking pictures, and it hardly seems like “work” at all. Really what is happening is capturing that family legacy that you have created and helping you remember and pass on those moments that are your family right now.
