So life is crazy sometimes, and hard, and heartbreaking…two times this year I have had to prepare images for a funeral before I finished them to show off the wedding. This year, I have had two fathers pass away shortly after the couples weddings. I can’t imagine the heartbreak these couples have gone through. But I am grateful that I could help preserve a memory for them. An image of the ones that they love to hold onto. And for whatever reason, I just happened to take quite a few photos of the fathers who passed away. I don’t know why I did that, but I am grateful that I did. I know that for Tanya all those images became so important.
It has taught me such a valuable lesson too with my weddings. Weddings are about the bride and groom, they really are. But they are also about the people that they love. And those snapshots with grandparents, parents, siblings, and loved ones become so important to them. I have to admit that family formals are not my favorite thing to shoot, and generally its not the families favorite part of the day. Everyone has this kind of “grin and bear it” mentality. And I have said more than a time or two, “No one likes the family formals, but everyone is glad we have them in the end.” And this is so incredibly true. I have learned this year to take a little more time, watch for a little more emotion, and make sure to capture these images that are going to be so important down the road.
Hope you enjoy looking through, Tanya and Ryan’s wedding. It was truly the most wonderful wedding. So full of love and laughs and joy. She has the most amazing people in her life. I have seen Tanya at lots of weddings this year coming to support all her friends and it was so great to see all those people that came to support her and Ryan. So much love and such a beautiful day for them. They put so much work into all the details and it as so lovely and showed their personalities so much! I am so grateful to have been a part of their day.
I have to just say, and I know this post has been a little emotional, but I am so blessed. Blessed with all these wonderful AK Brides. Blessed to be able to get to know them, and love them, and become friends with them. Blessed to be able to be a part of their life in this most important time of their lives. And so incredibly blessed to be learning so many wonderful lessons about love, gratitude, remembering what is important, and true beauty. I am just so lucky to be in this life, doing what I am doing.
